I once met this stall keeper at a tourist place.
He – A student , studying in Milan and selling some silver jewelery on weekends at gela.
I stopped by his stall and got talking with him.
Once he heard that I was from India, he refused to bill my purchases.

His reasoning “In Loghon se toh bahut kamaya hai, apne ko dhene ke liye”

Translated – We have earned enough from these people to give to ours.

All he wanted in return was to talk in hindustani and about hindustan.

He was in his early 20’s and a Pakistani for you !!!

The past weeks i have been reading instances of scientific discovery like turmeric preventing tanning, curry leaves being good for preventing grey hairs, blah, blah….

This have proved my ability to laugh at myself.

I remember the days when I used to smirk at my mom’s words and now after every read,i smirk at myself and let myself be smirked at.

India and the colonial age

I recently came across an interesting blog at some chinese site. All abt the colonial age and the impact on india.
The 200 years of slavery and the subsequent rape.

“”I have traveled across the length and breadth of India and I have not
seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have
seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such caliber,
that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we
break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and
cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old
and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think
that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their
own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native self-culture and
they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation?.:

I think this is where my blood boils over.
